The president of Turkey, the Islamist Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said on Sunday (17.12.2017) that his country plans to open an embassy in East Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian state, after the United States has recognized that city (in its two halves, East and West) in their as capital of the State of Israel.
“We have already declared East Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian state, but we have not been able to open our embassy because Jerusalem is currently occupied, but, God willing, we will open our embassy there,” Erdogan said during an act of his Justice and Development party. (AKP)

On the other hand, official Egyptian sources reported this Sunday that the Parliament of that country has begun the process to discuss a bill with the aim of boycotting American products in response to the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The draft law was sent, among others, to a joint committee specializing in economic affairs, defense, national security and Arab affairs, according to the official news agency MENA. This committee will study the proposal and prepare reports in this regard, as a preliminary step to propose a vote on the boycott of US products before the plenary session of the House.
In the session of this Sunday of the Parliament, the president of the legislative organ, Ali Abdelal, affirmed that “Jerusalem will continue being Arab and will remain like the capital of the State of Palestine”.
